Artist of the moment…. Typographer and letterpress artist Amos Kennedy…

this artist is just great, especially if you want to study the commercial side of art! He uses the letterpress machine to come up with limited edition prints  that harken back to the days of the 1960s and 1970s and the fun and whimsical t shirts and posters of the day. His hand pressed posters go for $10 to $15 most of the time. For someone who appears in international art blogs and magazines that is a STEAL!

He learned from Walter Hamady the fine art of using letters. I enjoy his unique quotes.  Some of his shirts are quite funny.

Short clip about the artist and some of his hand printed t shirts.  The artist has been making t shirts this way since 1989. Find them at

The artist is now based out of Gordo, Alabama and has become somewhat of a folk artist known for his handmade t shirts and homespun sense of humor.

He attended University of Illinois and had a mind leaning toward math and science before taking the workshop that changed his life to the artistic endeavor it is now. He took a letterpress workshop while on vacation with his sons and one year later started his own business!

My reason for liking the artist is simple, he doesn’t need the fancy high tech and 1080 dpi per inch printer, he is fine using something very old that has a unique look to it! Way to go Mr. Kennedy! Keep the old school alive!

Try to do a fun design using text in the design!

Keep the brush and pencils moving!
